There is a big difference between being broke and being poor. Being broke means you don’t have money but being poor means you cannot produce money.
Being broke is economical – Just like the tides and waves determine how far water gets off the bank of the river; so there might be little or no water at the bank but you are sure that when the waves come, there will surely be water. But for being poor, there is no water in the river at all, so come tides, waves or even a tornado, no water is getting to the banks.
You see, when you are poor, no one can even help your situation.
Someone somewhere is saying “I know God will intervene!” I hate to be the one to break it to you but God is not going to make you rich! (Calm down already). The good book says in Deuteronomy 8:18 “And you shall remember the Lord your God for it is He that gives you power to get wealth” So you see, God doesn’t give you the wealth (Sorry)! He gives you the power to get it. He gives you the ability to make wealth. What abilities? Ideas, an awesome mind that can create. He even went further to say that He will bless whatever you lay your hands upon. So He has given you the mind to create and has equally prepared His blessings to increase and perfect whatever you decide to create. So all you need has been given to you already; it is like having a money-printing machine in your house. Because you have the machine doesn’t mean you automatically become rich, but because you have it, there is the possibility of you being rich If you use it. But if you don’t use it or you don’t know how to use it, you will die with a goldmine by your side.
So I want you to see being broke as you using the printing machine – You’re printing but the money is not out yet. So at that particular time, you don’t have the money but you are so sure that in the nearest future, if you keep on with what you are doing, the money will definitely show up. So whether or not you’ve got money before or nothing at all…. What counts???? That you are printing; you’re working; you’re making use of your mind – Now that’s being broke.
But you see being poor, it’s like
having the printing machine and not using it at all, not even knowing how to use it or where to start from; so bad that you keep praying for a miracle to just happen – that’s a clue to what being poor looks like.
If you’re broke, it means you can still be rich again but if you are poor, it simply means your wealth-making-machine is faulty! Your wealth-making-machine is your mind.
Sometimes being broke can lead to being poor – not having money right now, not being able to pay your bills or take care of your family, the wait seems endless and you give up on your wealth-making-machine and boom! You join the gang of poor people. But at what point did you move from being broke to being poor?? It’s not a function of how long you stay without money but that moment when you stop having the hope of productivity in your ability! Beloved, poverty is creeping in.
I am not saying it is going to be easy! NO IT WON’T. But I’m saying that you don’t want to get to that point where your wealth-making-machine becomes faulty, because “That is your smoking gun in life.”
Poverty is a disease! It is a mentality that you should never allow to encroach into your life. So I want you to vow this day that you will never be poor again (Say it out loud if you need to but mean it).
Affirm something to yourself and do it every day: I may be poor today but I will not be poor forever because I choose to engage my mind and be productive. But above all, I will never be poor again!
